Jonathan
Moorefield, Newland's brother, can be heard on 9 out of 12 songs on
Threads
of Mercury.
He also co-wrote "South First Street".
An
eighteen-year veteran of recording and extensive road work
with various artists, such as The Platters, Jason D Williams (of
Jerry Lee Lewis fame), Jim Dandy w/ Black Oak Arkansas, Nazareth,
and Pat Travers (just to name a few), Jonathan first hit
the road at age seventeen after studying drums and percussion at
the University of Tennessee. Working out of Atlanta, Nashville,
Kansas City, New Orleans, and Jackson influenced his musical
flavor for versatility.
"I
was exposed to every style of music," he says,"and
I had the pleasure of learning from the best musicians around.
Blues, jazz, rock, heavy metal, techno, country, classical. You
name it!!! I soaked it all in."
He
currently resides in Jackson, Mississippi, where he can be seen weekly
in just about every club and venue, playing drums and singing with recording
artist and songwriter Hunter Gibson, the retro super group The
Intangibles, and the blues/rock ensemble Debbie Buie and The
Yesmen. He is also a driving force behind the 16-piece high-energy
R&B showband known as The Bluz Boyz.
Jonathan
also freelances session recordings and teaches private drum
lessons.
